Google Doodle from September 1st, 2015

The biggest change has been a long time coming–the change from a serif font into a sans serif one. Generally speaking, serif fonts are best suited for printed materials, and sans-serif ones for digital ones.

A few people I’ve spoken with said they preferred the old logo, and I’m sure that’s the predominant opinion. But design isn’t necessarily about what people like, but about what’s functional and honestly, what the designers like.

Get to recognize the new Google logo (and colored G icon), because it’s here to stay for a while.
